HIPAA Privacy & Security
All Faculty members, residents, students and staff must complete HIPAA Awareness Training (both Privacy and Security).
April 14, 2003 was the effective date of the Privacy Rule and all existing faculty should have received training by this date.
April 20, 2005 was the effective date of the Security Rule and all existing faculty should have received training by this date.
Any new Faculty members who start after the effective dates of the Privacy and/or Security Rule will be required to attend the appropriate training.

- VA’s HIPAA Privacy and Security Training
- Clarian’s HIPAA Privacy and Security Training
- DVD available for HIPAA Security Training
- Video Stream available for HIPAA Security Training
Tracking:
- The Office of Compliance Services (OCS) does not track the faculty members who attend training conducted by the OCS. The faculty members are provided the yellow copy of the two part form to return to their appropriate department administrator for tracking.
- Any training obtained through other sources will require the individual to provide these materials and verification of attendance to the department administrator.
Please Note: Fulfilling your HIPAA training requirement and fulfilling your Annual Compliance training are two separate requirements. HIPAA training does NOT count as your Annual Compliance training and vise versa.
