HIPAA Privacy & Security
All faculty, residents, students and staff must complete HIPAA Awareness
Training (both Privacy and Security).
April 14, 2003 was the effective date of the Privacy Rule and all existing
faculty should have received training by this date.
April 20, 2005 was the effective date of the Security Rule and all existing
faculty should have received training by this date.
Any new faculty, residents, students and staff members who start after the
effective dates of the Privacy and/or Security Rule will be required to attend
the appropriate training.

- Clarian’s HIPAA Privacy and Security Training
- DVD available for HIPAA Security Training
- Video Stream available for HIPAA Security Training
Tracking:
- The Office of Compliance Services (OCS) will give each participant the
yellow copy of the two part attendance form. It is the responsibility of
the participant to return this form to the appropriate Student Affairs Office
to get credit for attending HIPAA Privacy and Security training.
- The Office of Compliance Services (OCS) does not track HIPAA training.
- Any training obtained through other sources will require the individual
to provide verification of attendance to the appropriate Student Affairs
Office.
- If you complete the online training, a list of students will be forwarded
to the appropriate Student Affairs Office.
